How to Setup a Ban Appeal System on Discord
Add Noctaly to your Discord Server
- Go to the Dashboard , and login to your Discord account, if needed.
- Select the server you want to setup the Appeal System in.
- Select the Appeal System module, then enable the module.
Configure the Appeal System
- Appeal Channel: The Appeal System can be used without Discord, but it is recommended to define a channel in the Appeal Channel option. New appeals will be sent in this channel.
- Moderator Roles: These roles are important because they enable moderators to manage appeals. Members with the administrator permission have access to manage appeals by default.
- Other Options: These two options were the most important. You can explore other options to customize the appeal system.
Setup the Appeal Form
This form is important, as it is the one that members will need to fill in to appeal. The appeal system doesn't work without a form.
- Click on the Add Question button.
- You have to chose between 4 options: Short Answer, Paragraph, Radio Buttons and Checkboxes. Learn more about the options.
- Set the question (title) and a description, if needed.
- Set whether the option should be required or not.
- Repeat until you have all the options that you want to ask.
Question Options
- Short Answer: It's a single line, short answer, with a 500 characters limit. It's usually used for simple information.
- Paragraph: It's a multi-lines, long answer, with a 2000 characters limit. It's usually used to let the member give context, explain a situation or why their punishment should be removed.
- Radio Buttons: These are bullet point buttons used to select one answer among the answers provided.
- Checkboxes: These are checkboxes used to select zero (or one, if required) to many answers among the answers provided.
Test the Appeal System
Now that everything is configured, it's time to test the appeal system!
- In the Form section, click on the View Appeal Page button.
- Warn (or any punishment in Allowed Punishments) an alt account or a member that can test it for you.
- You should see the case of the punishment, you may have to reload the page. Click on the case. If you don't see it, check below: I have a punishment, but I don't see it on the appeal page .
- Fill the form, then submit.
- Go back to the appeal page, then click on View Submissions. If you see the appeal, congrats, the appeal system works!
NoteIf you can't test the Appeal Form, it should work if you don't see any error when you go to the appeal page.
